Cueto Inks the Big Deal

Johnny Cueto and the San Francisco Giants have come to terms on a deal that will be worth $130 million over six years.

Cueto is one of the big free agent starters that led the Kansas City Royals to back-to-back World Series appearances with one championship.  Many teams were pursuing Cueto, all-willing to pay a high amount.  Cueto finished this year with a 3.44 ERA with is what makes him such a high target teams tried to peruse this off-season.

The Giants rotation is a filthy one now, with Madison Bumgarner at the top of the rotation, then to Cueto, then to Jeff Samardzija – another free agent pickup – and finally ending up with Jake Peavy, and Matt Cain.  This is probably one of the top three rotations in baseball this upcoming year, and a team in the National League West that have a set goal, to get back to the World Series.

Can the Panthers remain unbeaten?

The New York Giants for some reason have a niche for beating undefeated teams or in general, teams that are just flat out better than them, like the Panthers.  It is what got the Giants their two Super Bowl titles.  Especially at home, the Panthers have a tough test next week against the New York Giants.

The only undefeated team left in the NFL, the Carolina Panthers with a standing record at 13-0 after Week 14 was completed last night.  Three games remain for the Panthers and their undefeated regular season, and the main question that remains is can they go undefeated?

There remaining games are against the New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons (who they just beat in Week 14 38-0), and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Many people would think the way these three teams have been playing this season it should be a walk in the park for the Panthers to finish 16-0.  Not so fast.

While the Atlanta Falcons just got an ass whopping this previous week, the Falcons aren’t actually a bad team, and they too, will have a home game against Carolina.

Finally the Buccaneers, while they have not had a great season they do have an impressive win over the newly clicking Philadelphia Eagles team.  Can rookie Jameis Winston pull off probably one of the greatest upsets in NFL history (that is unless we’re talking about when the Giants beat the Patriots twice in the Super Bowl)?

Any of these three teams have a good shot to stop the red hot Panthers, only time will tell as we approach the final three weeks of the season.

Can Patty Beat Gretzky?

There is simply no way we would be 24 games into the season and someone could have predicted the season that Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane is having.  A single point in every game this season so far.  For all you benders out there who have no idea how hockey works, a point consists of either a goal, or an assist.  Kane’s point streak is now up to 24 after his late goal in last night’s game against the Nashville Predators.  With his exhausting off-season of dealing with an accusation of rape, which ended up being dropped by the prosecutor, relaxation is definitely not a word Kane has heard this year.

Now the single-handed question is can he beat WayneGretzky’s record of 51 games?  My opinion is simple.  No.  There’s just no way in my opinion that in today’s game of hockey that Patrick Kane can go 51 out of 82 games with recording a point.  Gretzky was a freak of nature during his tenure in the NHL, which is why the number is so high.  Today’s game is a little different, it’s not about the big hits and smash mouth play, instead rather about speed, quickness, and who’s putting up the best numbers.

Can the Warriors go 82-0?

The NBA season is off to a hot start already with all the attention surrounding Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

Coming off of their championship season the Warriors haven’t skipped a beat, now at 23-0 they are definitely the team to beat around the league.  With all returning stars the Warriors are right where they left off, winning basketball games.

The question going around the world is simply who can stop these guys?  Many people say it will be a random team towards the latter of the season.  Golden States percent chance to win out each game is above 55% until Christmas day.  Christmas day they face the team they saw in last years NBA Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavs are in the same boat as the Warriors, starting off the year with a healthy record, this game on Christmas day is the one to look forward too and the one that can crash the Warriors undefeated party.

What is going on in the NFC East?

What in God’s green earth is happening to these four teams?  It looks like a pathetic excuse for them all to call themselves football teams is what it looks like.

With the division lead at 5-7, yes that is correct 5-7, it seems as if you threw a bunch of JV players out there and gave them there own division called the NFC East.  The Giants, not surprisingly, blowing basically every game since being placed in first earlier on.

The Cowboys have won one game without Tony Romo and yet still end up one game out first.

The Redskins are actually the team that is starting to figuring their stuff out and starting to click which can make for a dangerous playoff run.

The Eagles, who knows what’s going on over in Philadelphia, I don’t even think the people in Philly do.

Either way it’s looking like an early first round loss for whoever comes out this division because it is simply one word, UGLY.

Although the Giants have come out of this division in a similar season a couple years back which resulted in a Super Bowl.  In my opinion it’s when you start clicking as a team that makes you the most dangerous in the playoffs.  You can have a solid team all season but if something happens towards the end that throws off your chemistry, forget about it, you’re out in the first round.

On the contrary you can be having an awful season the entire year – like the NFC East – and start to click and win out the rest of your games and anything can really happen.
