Devils Win the final game of the regular season

Adam Henrique and Kyle Palmieri became the Devils' first 30-goal scorers in four years Saturday night.

Patrik Elias stole the show, though, the Devils career leading scorer, had a goal and two assists while New Jersey beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-1 in the season finale for both teams.

The soon to be 40 year old played in only 16 games this season because of a knee injury, returning for the final three of the regular season. He is an unrestricted free agent and his future with the Devils is uncertain.

Elias plans to talk to his family and see if the Devils, who have missed the playoffs the last four seasons, are interested in re-signing him. He was named the first star of the game and seemed to soak in everything as he skated around the ice.

Henrique scored twice to reach the 30-goal mark for the first time, while Palmieri scored into an empty net to reach his career high.

The Devils look to finish out next years season stronger than they did this year.

NJ Drops Another to Tampa

Jonathan Drouin scored the winning goal, and the Tampa Bay Lightning clinched home-ice advantage for the first round of the playoffs with a 4-2 victory over the Devils.

Erik Condra and Cedric Paquette also scored and Ben Bishop made 20 saves for the injury plagued Lightning, who snapped a two-game losing streak.  Valtteri Filppula scored an empty-net goal in the final minute.

The Lightning, who finish their regular season at Montreal, will face either Boston or Detroit in the opening round.

Devils Now Eliminated from the Playoffs Lose Again

Jack Eichel got his 24th goal and Ryan O'Reilly got his 21st to help the Buffalo Sabres beat the New Jersey Devils 3-1 on Tuesday night.

Johan Larsson also scored and Chad Johnson made 18 saves for the Sabres.

Devils Fall Again to the Bolts

Brian Boyle scored the go-ahead goal on a third-period power play and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the New Jersey Devils 3-1.

Victor Hedman and Nikita Kucherov also scored for the Lightning.

Tampa Bay's Ben Bishop stopped Mike Sislo’s breakaway shot in the first and finished with 25 saves.  Lightning captain Steven Stamkos sat out with an undisclosed upper-body injury, he has 36 goals and 64 points in 77 games.
New Jersey got a goal from Adam Henrique.

Goalie Cory Schneider, who hadn't played since March 4 due to a right knee injury, was back in the lineup and made 33 saves.

NJ Falls to Florida as the season comes to a close

The Florida Panthers had to beat the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night to reclaim first place in the Atlantic Division.

Jonathan Huberdeau scored twice, and Florida killed off two third-period penalties after fans threw toy rats onto the ice to beat the Devils 3-2.

The rats were a giveaway item, in which 10,000 were handed out.  Fans threw them in the stoppages after each of Florida's goals in the third, and the Devils did not score on either resulting power play.

The rats are an homage to the 1995-96 season, when Scott Mellanby supposedly killed a rat in the locker room of the team's old arena before scoring two goals.

Devils beat Bruins in Thriller

The Devils defeated the Bruins 2-1 in New Jersey even though they were outshot 40-15.

Devils forwards Travis Zajac and Reid Boucher scored power-play goals and Devils goalie Keith Kinkaid made a career-high 39 saves in his first appearance since March 19.  He had allowed 13 goals on 75 shots in his previous three appearances.
